Gene Information
human ... GUCY2C(2984)
General description
The guanylate cyclase 2C (GUCY2C) gene is mapped to human chromosome 12p12. The gene codes for a transmembrane receptor guanylate cyclase C (GC-C) and is expressed in intestine.
Immunogen
synthetic peptide corresponding to amino acids 981-995 of human GUCY2C
Application
Yale Center for High Throughput Cell Biology IF-tested antibodies. Each antibody is tested by immunofluorescence against HUVEC cells using the Yale HTCB IF protocol. To learn more about us and Yale Center for High Throughput Cell Biology partnership, visit sigma.com/htcb-if.
Biochem/physiol Actions
Guanylate cyclase 2C (GUCY2C) converts guanosine-5′-triphosphate (GTP) to cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP), upon binding of its ligand guanylin and uroguanylin, which are paracrine hormones. GUCY2C functions as a tumor suppressor and hinders intestinal tumorigenesis by inhibiting the protein kinase B/AKT signaling pathway. Transmembrane receptor guanylate cyclase C (GC-C) regulates the secretion of chloride. Alteration in the gene expression leads to congenital sodium diarrhoea (CSD).
Physical form
Solution in 0.01 M phosphate buffered saline, pH 7.4, containing 15 mM sodium azide.
