Biochem/physiol Actions

Catalase (CAT) protects different cell types from the harmful effects of hydrogen peroxide. It is involved in idiopathic male infertility. CAT converts hydrogen peroxide to water and molecular oxygen. CAT promotes resistance against many diseases. Mutations in CAT is linked to acatalasemia.

General description

Catalase (CAT) is an antioxidant enzyme. CAT gene is located on human chromosome 11p13. CAT is present in peroxisomes of most aerobic organisms. It is a heme enzyme expressed mainly in liver.

Immunogen

CAT (NP_001743.1, 1 a.a. ~ 527 a.a) full-length human protein.
