Biochem/physiol Actions
Cytoplasmic polyadenylation element-binding protein 4 (CPEB4) plays a key role in translational control during tumor development and modulates various biological processes in tumor progression, including invasion, metastasis, tumor cell growth, and vascularization. It is involved in pathologic angiogenesis, terminal erythroid differentiation, and non-neuronal tissues for cancer progression. Overexpression of the CPEB4 gene is associated with pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma and glioblastoma.

General description
Cytoplasmic polyadenylation element-binding protein 4 (CPEB4) is a sequence-specific binding protein that belongs to the CPEB family. It consists of two domains, an unstructured domain, and a RNA binding domain. CPEB4 is expressed in the spinal cord and brain. The CPEB4 gene is mapped on the human chromosome at 5q35.2.
