Biochem/physiol Actions

Liver X receptor α (LXR-α) has an important role in the control of cholesterol homeostasis. LXRs have been found to regulate inflammatory response in macrophages. They are also involved in the regulation of cell proliferation.

General description

Liver X receptor α and β (LXR-α/LXR-β) are members of LXRs that belong to the nuclear receptor superfamily. LXR-α is expressed predominantly in macrophages, liver, intestine, kidney, lung and adipose tissue. The protein contains a DNA-binding domain that requires the ligand-binding domain to heterodimerize with a retinoid X receptor partner for its DNA-binding activity. The gene encoding this protein is localized on to human chromosome 11p11.2.

Immunogen

Peptide with sequence CRLQDKKLPPLLSEI from the internal region of the protein sequence according to NP_005684; NP_009052.

Physical form

Supplied at 0.5 mg/mL in Tris saline with 0.02% sodium azide and 0.5% bovine serum albumin.
