Biochem/physiol Actions
Secreted Frizzled-related protein 1 (SFRP1) is a secreted inhibitor of Wnt signaling pathway. DNA damage or oxidative stress causes cellular senescence, which leads to the overexpression of sfrp1. This protein induces senescence phenotypes via the inactivation of Wnt signaling and activation of the retinoblastoma (Rb) pathway. Mutations or aberrant methylation in this gene impair the induction of senescence in several cancers, including breast cancer, bladder cancer, and colorectal tumorigenesis.

General description
The gene SFRP1 (secreted frizzled related protein 1) is mapped to human chromosome 8p22–p12, a region frequently deleted in breast cancer. It is highly expressed in normal breast tissue.
Immunogen
Peptide with sequence KNHECPTFQSVFK, from the C-terminal region of the protein sequence according to NP_003003.3
Physical form
Supplied at 0.5 mg/mL in 20mM Tris (pH 7.3) and 150mM NaCl with 0.02% sodium azide and 0.5% bovine serum albumin.

The canonical Wnt signalling pathway plays a key role during embryogenesis and defects in this pathway have been implicated in the pathogenesis of various types of tumours, including breast cancer. The gene for secreted frizzled-related protein 1 (SFRP1) encodes a

Regions of the short arm of chromosome 8 are deleted frequently in a range of solid tumors, indicating that tumor suppressor genes reside at these loci. In this study, we have examined the properties of the Wnt signaling antagonist secreted

The aims of this study were to determine the methylation and expression status of secreted Frizzled-related protein 1 (SFRP1) in bladder cancer, to explore the mechanisms involved and to study the role of SFRP1 in the pathogenesis of bladder cancer.

Cellular senescence has emerged as a critical tumor suppressive mechanism in recent years, but relatively little is known about how senescence occurs. Here, we report that secreted Frizzled-related protein 1 (SFRP1), a secreted antagonist of Wnt signaling, is oversecreted upon
