General description
Monoclonal Anti-Osteopontin (mouse IgG1 isotype) is derived from the hybridoma OPN46 produced by the fusion of mouse myeloma cells and splenocytes from BALB/c mice immunized with a synthetic peptide corresponding to amino acids of human osteopontin. Osteopontin (OPN) is a secreted, integrin-binding glycophosphoprotein which serves as a cytokine and as an extracellular matrix molecule. It is produced by multiple tissues in the body and is most abundant in bone.
Application
Monoclonal Anti-Osteopontin antibody produced in mouse may be used in immunoblotting.
Biochem/physiol Actions
Osteopontin (OPN) synthesized in cancer cells is essentail for growth, progression and metastasis of cancer. In tuomr cells OPN is highly expressed The structural features of OPN differ between normal and tumor cells Three osteopontin splice variant transcripts have been found to be expressed in invasive, but not in non-invasive breast tumor cell lines. Osteopontin-b lacks exon 5 and osteopontin-c lacks exon 4. The shortest splice variant, osteopontin-c may support breast tumor progression by conveying anchorage independence and inducing oxidoreductases expression. It was also suggested as a diagnostic and prognostic breast cancer marker.

Solution in 0.01 M phosphate buffered saline, pH 7.4, containing 15 mM sodium azide.
