Biochem/physiol Actions

Melanoma-associated antigen 1 (MAGE-A1) stimulates the proliferation and colony formation of melanoma cells. It might modulate the oncogenic C-JUN expression either directly or via the extracellular-signal-regulated kinase (ERK)-mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) signaling pathway. Hence, MAGE-A1 could be a possible therapeutic target for patients with melanoma. It can be a potential marker in the treatment of lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD).

General description

Melanoma-associated antigen 1 (MAGE-A1) belongs to the melanoma-associated antigen (MAGE) gene family. It is also termed cancer-testis antigen (CTA) or cancer-germline (CG) gene. The MAGE-A1 gene is mostly expressed in the human germline. It is also expressed in the placenta and various tumor cells. MAGE-A1 gene is located on human chromosome Xq28.

Immunogen

Synthetic peptide derived from the C-terminus of human MAGE-A1 protein.

Physical form

0.1 ml rabbit monoclonal antibody purified by protein A/G in PBS/1% BSA buffer pH 7.6 with less than 0.1% sodium azide.

MAGE-A1 belongs to the chromosome X-clustered genes of cancer-testis antigen family and is normally expressed in the human germ line but is also overexpressed in various tumors. Previous studies of MAGE-A1 in melanoma mainly focused on methylation changes or its

Cancer/testis antigens (CTAs) are a special type of tumor antigen and are believed to act as potential targets for cancer immunotherapy. In this study, we first screened a rational CTA MAGE-A1 for lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) and explored the detailed characteristics
