General description

Sotorasib (INN) is a small molecule which belongs to the class of compounds known as KRAS G12C inhibitors. Sotorasib is a chiral compound which is a KRAS G12C covalent inhibitor.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Sotorasib inhibits the KRAS G12C protein, which is involved in the regulation of cell growth and division. The KRAS G12C protein is a mutated form of the KRAS protein, which is found in certain types of cancer cells, particularly non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). The G12C mutation causes abnormal activation of the KRAS G12C protein, leading to the uncontrolled growth and spread of cancer cells.
