Application
Rhodomyrtone has been used as a positive control for the identification of rhodomyrtone in Rhodomyrtus tomentosa crude extract by thin-layer chromatography.
Biochem/physiol Actions
Rhodomyrtone belongs to a novel compound class, shows anti-bacterial action against many Gram-positive bacteria (Enterococcus, Bacillus, Staphylococcus, and Streptococcus species) and other pathogenic bacteria. It is known to have greater selectivity for bacterial over mammalian membrane lipids. Rhodomyrtone acts on several cellular processes.
