General description
Quercetin 3-glucuronide is a natural product derived from a plant source. Quercetin is an important flavonoid present in most of the vegetables including onion. It is one of the polyphenol metabolites that is found to be localized to the brain.
Biochem/physiol Actions
Quercetin 3-glucuronide might reduce the risk of developing Alzheimer′s disease dementia. It is found to prevent the formation of β-amyloid (Aβ) peptides in mouse model. Quercetin 3-glucuronide is a metabolic product of dietary quercetin, which occurs in intestinal mucosa and liver. Quercetin 3-glucuronide possess antioxidant activity and is known to have a protective action on LDL (low density lipoprotein) oxidation.
