DIM-C-pPhtBu induces apoptosis in various cancer cell lines; induces endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress in KB cancer cells.
DIM-C-pPhtBu, similar to other C-DIMs, exhibits a broad range of anticancer and antitumorigenic activities against multiple tumor types. DIM-C-pPhtBu causes apoptotic cell death of KB cells by activation of endoplasmic reticulum stress through induction of CHOP protein that is associated with the apoptosis in human oral cancer cells. Also it appears to induce an autophagic cell death in drug-resistant ER-negative breast tumors.
