Biochem/physiol Actions

UMI-77 is an inhibitor of Induced myeloid leukemia cell differentiation protein Mcl-1, a member of the Bcl-2 family that inhibits apoptosis. UMI-77 acts by binding to the BH3-binding groove of Mcl-1, blocking the heterodimerization of Mcl-1/Bax and Mcl-1/Bak. UMI-77 is selective for Mcl-1 over other members of the antiapoptotic Bcl-2 family with a Ki of 490 nM. It inhibited cell growth and induced apoptosis in pancreatic cancer cells.
