Sophocarpine is a natural product found to have anti-inflammatory, anti-cancer, and antiviral activity. Sophocarpine was active in an mouse xenograft model. It inhibited growth of head and neck squamous cell carcinomas by downregulation of miR-21 expression. Sophocarpine was also shown to protecs mice from a form of hepatitis by inhibiting the IFNg/STAT1 pathway.
