ES24 is an Eeyarestatin 1 analog that blocks protein translocation in vitro and more effectively enhances Sec61-mediated Ca2+ leakage from Endoplasmic Reticulum (ER). Apparently ES24 keep Sec61 in open position allowing Ca2+ ions to move freely through the aqueous channel present. It causes cell-type-specific Ca2+-dependent cell death.
