Biochem/physiol Actions

Connexin-43 (Cx43) etracellular loop I sequence-derived Cx43 blocker in cultures and in animals in vivo.
Gap 26 is a 13-mer peptide derived from the first extracellular loop I sequence of connexin-43 (h/m/r Cx43 aa64-76 or aa63-75 after Met1 removal). Gap 26 is widely employed to block and probe Cx43-mediated gap junctional signaling in cultures (20-160 μM) and in animals in vivo.
