PD 173212 is a selective N-type (Cav2.2) voltage sensitive calcium channel (VSCC) blocker that potently inhibits VSCC-mediated calcium influx in IMR-32 human neuroblastoma cells (IC50 = 36 nM vs. 8%/Na+ channels & 10% K+ channels blockage at 1 μM, L-type Ca+2 channels IC50 >10 μM) with in vivo efficacy in a murine audiogenic zeisure model (80% tonic zeisure protection at 30 mg/kg i.v.).
