Biochem/physiol Actions

Cell penetrant and potent a chemical chaperone-like modulator of endoplasmic reticulum proteostasis that alleviates ER stress.
KM04794 is a cell penetrant and potent a chemical chaperone-like modulator of endoplasmic reticulum proteostasis that alleviates ER stress. It prevents protein aggregation and cell death caused by ER stressors (such as thapsigargin and dithiothreitol) and a mutant insulin. KM04794 enhances insulin production in pancreatic β cells. Apparently it binds directly to ER molecular chaperone BiP (binding immunoglobulin protein).
