Biochem/physiol Actions

Potent and selective allosteric inhibitor of the fungal-specific enzyme Erg6 that induces accumulation of zymosterol and farnesol in pathogenic fungus C. albicans.

H55 is a cell penetrant, potent and selective allosteric inhibitor of the fungal-specific enzyme Erg6 (C-24 sterol methyltransferase) that induces accumulation of zymosterol and farnesol in pathogenic fungus Candida albicans. H55 potently inhibits C. albicans hyphal formation. Treatment of mice infected with C. albicans with H55 alleviates the severity of the infection and improves the survival.
