Orally available neurogenic drug that ameliorates impaired memory function in Zucker diabetic fatty rats; exhibits long-acting antidepressant, procognitive, synaptoplastic, and neurotrophic activities.
NSI-189 is an orally available neurogenic drug with pleiotropic properties that ameliorates impaired memory function and plasticity in Zucker diabetic fatty rat model of type 2 diabetes through enhanced expression of mitochondrial complexes I, III, IV, and V. NSI-189 exhibits long-acting antidepressant, procognitive, synaptoplastic, and neurotrophic activities in patients with major depressive disorder.
