Sulfo-NHS-SS-biotin facilitates targeted and reversible protein biotinylation, serving diverse experimental and analytical objectives.
Sulfo-NHS-SS-biotin, a cleavable and water-soluble trifunctional derivatization agent that cannot enter cells, is utilized for labeling primary amines. This enables subsequent purification and enrichment through streptavidin-coated beads, followed by the release of thiolated primary amides under conditions that break disulfide bonds. Sulfo-NHS-SS-biotin finds applications in protein purification, reversible labeling, identifying target proteins, quantification of cell-surface proteins and conducting affinity-based assays.
