Haloperidol decanoate is a cell-permeable decanoate ester of haloperidol (H1512), a selective and a potent dopamine D2 (DRD2) antagonist, that acts as a long-acting injectable antipsychotic. Haloperidol decanoate is reported to be metabolized in the liver and undergo hydrolysis by plasma and/or tissue esterases to form haloperidol and decanoic acid.
