Application
Theaflavin 3,3′-digallate is suitable for use to study its effects on the proliferation of chondrocytes in osteoarthritis (OA) rat model.
Biochem/physiol Actions
Theaflavin-3,3′-digallate (TFDG) is a polyphenol obtained from the leaves of Camellia sinensis. It is an ingredient of black tea that exhibits anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, anticancer, and antiviral activities. Theaflavins (TFs) exhibit significant potential as antimicrobial agents. TFDG is a promising broad-spectrum antibacterial and anti-spore agent effective against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, acid-fast bacteria, and endospores. It is a potent ligand of the SARS-unique domain (SUD) of nsp3 that disrupted the SUD-guanine quadruplex interactions. Theaflavin 3,3’-digallate potently inhibits SARS-CoV-2 replication in Vero E6-TMPRSS2 cells.
