Description

Biochem/physiol Actions

A water-soluble sodium salt form of DMXAA. DMXAA directly binds to murine STING (stimulator of interferon genes) but does not affect human STING. DMXAA disrupts tumor vasculature by inducing endothelial cell apoptosis, causing tumor hemorrhagic necrosis and ischemia, releasing serotonin, stimulating the innate immune system, producing inflammatory cytokines (e.g., TNF, IL-6, GCSF, KC, IP-10, MCP-1), activating NF-κB and p38 MAPK, producing nitric oxide, and reducing tumor energetics and membrane turnover.
