Application
Veliparib may be used in cell proliferation and colony forming assay to study its effect on O 6-methylguanine methyltransferase (MGMT) unmethylated glioblastoma.
Biochem/physiol Actions
Veliparib (ABT-888) is an orally active, potent and selective poly(ADP-ribose) polymerase (PARP) inhibitor (Ki = 5.2 nM PARP1, and 2.9 nM PARP2) that exhibits potent anti-cancer activity. Veliparib blocks DNA damage repair in cancer cells, additionally rendering them more susceptible for other anti-cancer drugs. As a potent PARP1 and PARP2 inhibitor it induces synthetic lethality in cancer cells.
