Tilmicosin phosphate salt

Tilmicosin phosphate, a cell-permeable macrolide antibiotic with enhanced solubility and administration due to its phosphate salt, primarily targets bacterial 50S ribosomes, dose-dependently inhibiting protein synthesis. It is effective against Gram-positive bacteria, key Gram-negative respiratory pathogens like Pasteurella multocida (susceptible at ≤16 μg/ml) and Mannheimia haemolytica, and Mycoplasma species (e.g., M. gallisepticum MIC99 0.027 μg/mL), including notable activity against S. aureus (bovine mastitis MIC90 0.78 μg/mL versus native tilmicosin MIC 3.0 μg/mL), rendering it crucial for treating livestock respiratory diseases owing to its excellent lung penetration and prolonged half-life.
