Gene Information

human ... IL2RB(3560)

General description

Interleukin-2 receptor (IL-2R)/ cluster of differentiation 122 (CD122) is a heterotrimeric protein, encoded by the gene mapped to human chromosome 22q12.3. The encoded protein is expressed on the surface of certain immune cells, such as lymphocytes, that binds and responds to a cytokine called IL-2. The IL-2R is made up of 3 subunits - α (CD25), β (CD122) and γ (CD132) - non-covalently associating. The α subunit is involved in binding IL-2, while signal transduction following cytokine interaction is carried out by the γ-chain, along with the β subunit. IL2R β is a member of the type I cytokine receptor family.

Application

Interleukin 2 receptor subunit β (IL2RB)/cluster of differentiation 122 (CD122) human has been used to study the effect of this cytokine on the expression of Klf15 in neurons.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Interleukin 2 receptor subunit β (IL2RB) is involved in signal transduction via its ligand interleukin-2. It is also implicated in inflammation. Cluster of differentiation 122 (CD122) is the receptor for interleukin-2 and is involved in receptor mediated endocytosis and transduces the mitogenic signals of IL2.

Physical form

Lyophilized from 0.22 μm filtered solution in PBS, pH7.4. Generally 5-8% Mannitol or trehalose is added as a protectant before lyophilization.

Preparation Note

Centrifuge the vial prior to opening. Reconstitute in sterile PBS, pH 7.4 to a concentration of 50 μg/mL. Do not vortex. This solution can be stored at 2-8°C for up to 1 month. For extended storage, it is recommended to store at -20°C.
