Zoxamide is a benzamide fungicide applied to crops to control damage caused by oomycete pathogens and ascomycete fungi. It is used as veterinary pharmaceuticals in aquaculture and for the control of various fungal infections including blight in potatoes and tomatoes.
As per Regulation (EC) No 1107/2009, repealing the directive 91/414/ECC, zoxamide is approved for use in the European Union (EU). A maximum residue limit (MRL) of 0.02 mg/kg is applicable for the presence of zoxamide in fresh/frozen fruits, and tree nuts, in accordance with Regulation (EU) 2017/171.

Application

The certified reference material (CRM) is intended to be used as a calibrant for chromatography and other analytical techniques.
The zoxamide CRM may also find the following uses:
  • Determination of zoxamide and its two acid metabolites in ginseng roots using ultra-performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometer (UPLC-MS/MS)
  • Determination of zoxamide in wine samples by reverse-phase high-performance liquid chromatography (RP-HPLC)
  • To evaluate the efficacy of post-harvest applications of zoxamide in reducing potato tuber rots caused by oomycetes at harvest
  • A systemic assessment of zoxamide enantiomers at the enantiomeric level
  • To assess the influence of mancozeb, zoxamide, and copper oxychloride fungicide treatments on manganese, zinc, copper, cadmium, and lead concentrations in Sicilian red wines, grapes, marcs, and grape stalks using derivative stripping chronopotentiometry
