b-HCH is a byproduct of the production of the insecticide lindane (g-HCH). It is not listed in the European Union pesticide database. As of 2009 it is listed in the Stockholm Convention as a persistent organic pollutant. The certified reference material (CRM) is intended to be used as a calibrant for chromatography and other analytical techniques.
