Chondroitin Sulfate Sodium is a glycosaminoglycan, obtained from domestic animal cartilage used in human food. It is composed of a copolymer of N-acetylchondrosamine and d-glucuronic acid, linked alternately between β-1,4 and β-1,3. The glycosaminoglycan is mostly composed of the sodium salt of the sulfate ester of N-acetylchondrosamine, and is primarily mono sulfated in position 4, and less so in position 6.

Application

Chondroitin sulfate sodium USP reference standard, intended for use in specified quality tests and assays as specified in the USP compendia. Also, for use with USP monographs such as:
  • Chondroitin Sulfate Sodium Tablets
  • Glucosamine and Chondroitin Sulfate Sodium Tablets
  • Glucosamine, Chondroitin Sulfate Sodium, and Methylsulfonylmethane Tablets
