- To catalyze polymerization of isobutylene.
- To facilitate Diels-Alder reaction of α,β-unsaturated esters.
- To carry out Pinacol reduction rearrangements.
- To promote Schmidt rearrangement of diketoazides in the synthesis of indolizidines and pyrroloazepinediones.
