硅油是一种低粘度，液体聚合，有有机侧链的硅氧烷。硅油具有抗菌活性，能够抵抗体外微生物引起的眼内炎。
硅油构成一组疏水性聚合物化合物，具有硅氧烷重复单元（–Si–O）的线性链和各种侧链。由于其独特的性能，如润湿性、润滑性、平滑滑动行为和机械强度，它们被广泛用于电绝缘体、消泡剂、实验室和润滑剂。

应用

硅油可以作为眼内液体用于玻璃体视网膜手术，因为它可以维持视网膜和视网膜色素上皮之间的粘附。

它可以在两相分配生物反应器中用于处理气体流出物。硅油与水相相容，并在两相之间形成更好的乳液。

它还可以用于在玻璃表面生成疏水涂层。(4)
