General description

Oxygen-17O2 is the isotopic analogue of oxygen.

Application

Oxygen-17O2 can be used
to estimate the cerebral metabolic rate of oxygen consumption (CMRO2) of swine by detection of metabolically produced H217O by rapid T1-weighted proton magnetic resonance imaging.
to understand the altered cerebral oxygen metabolism in glioma via dynamic 17O MRI.
to measure the quantitative and simultaneous measurement of oxygen consumption rates in rat brain and skeletal muscle using 17O MRS imaging.

Packaging

All gas volumes are quoted at Standard Temperature and Pressure (STP) and not at Normal Temperature and Pressure (NTP). One STP Liter is 7.7% more gas than one NTP Liter.
This product may be available from bulk stock and can be packaged on demand. For information on pricing, availability and packaging, please contact Stable Isotopes Customer Service.

Background Altered metabolism is a characteristic of cancer. Because of a shift in glucose metabolism from oxidative phosphorylation to lactate production for energy generation, malignant tumors are characterized by increased glycolysis followed by lactic acid fermentation, even in the presence

Despite the importance of metabolic disturbances in many diseases, there are currently no clinically used methods for the detection of oxidative metabolism in vivo. To address this deficiency, (17)O MRI techniques are scaled from small animals to swine as a
