与TREAT-HF 和 Olah 试剂类似，DMPU-HF是将氟化氢用作氟化试剂的简便方法。但与 TREAT-HF 和 Olah 试剂不同的是：同三乙胺和吡啶相比，由于 DMPU 的碱度降低，DMPU-HF 对过渡金属的耐受性更强。Hammond 及其同事在金催化的炔烃单和双氟化反应中展示了其在过渡金属催化中的兼容性。
