Magnesium bis(trifluoromethanesulfonyl)imide, abbreviated Mg(TFSI)2, is a white colored hygroscopic salt. Mg(TFSI)2 is soluble in water, carbonates, glymes, ethers, and ionic liquids.
Application
Mg(TFSI)2 has high solubility in polar aprotic solvents, such as acetonitrile and propylene carbonate, and it exhibits good thermal stability and electrochemical stability. These properties make it a popular choice for use as an electrolyte in high-performance batteries, particularly in the field of Mg-ion batteries. In addition to its use as an electrolyte in batteries, Mg(TFSI)2 also has applications in other electrochemical devices, such as supercapacitors and electrochemical devices. It is often used in combination with other electrolytes, additives, and solvents to form complex electrolyte formulations with tailored properties and performance characteristics.
