一般描述

Our battery grade lithium iron phosphate powder is a state-of-the-art cathode active material used in lithium-ion batteries. The material is a powdered form of lithium iron(II) phosphate or lithium ferro phosphate (LFP) crystallized in the stable olivine crystal structure—a structure celebrated for facilitating efficient lithium ion intercalation with minimal volume change (~6%) during charging and discharging. This unique characteristic contributes to the material’s impressive stability, which is often born out in the long cycle life of lithium iron phosphate batteries. Additionally, the stability of the structure contributes to its flat voltage profile during ion insertion and removal at 3.3-3.4 V vs. Li/Li+, which helps the battery achieve a high nominal voltage. Precision is key in our LFP′s design, with a particle size (D50) of about 0.9 μm and a closely defined particle distribution—D10 ~0.1 μm and D90 ~4 μm. These specifications are critical for achieving an exceptional powder press density of 2.5 g/cm3, which is higher than that of many commercial LFP powders. A thin, conductive carbon coating, accounting for 1.5% by weight, envelopes each particle. This coating not only boosts electronic conductivity but also serves as a shield against corrosion throughout the material′s operational life. The coating also limits build-up of the solid-electrolyte interphase (SEI), which is critical to maintaining high Coulombic efficiency. Additionally, our LFP is distinguished by its high level of metal purity, with trace metal purity of 99.95%, thereby maximizing capacity and reducing the likelihood of adverse chemical reactions that could impair battery performance.

应用

Our carbon-coated LFP cathode active material powder is an excellent material for research and development into lithium-ion batteries as it offers both state-of-the-art performance and batch-to-batch consistency. Lithium ferro phosphate is an increasingly important cathode material in modern batteries as LFP batteries are used in electric vehicles, scooters, and power tools. Compared to other cathode materials, LFP shows advantages in durability and safety and LiFePO4 is free of cobalt and nickel. In tests of our LFP, the material performs excellently by industry standards. For example, it typically achieves:
  • first discharge capacity of over 155 mAh/g at a 0.1C rate
  • first discharge capacity of over 130 mAh/g at 2C
  • first cycle efficiency greater than 96%
  • first cycle irreversible capacity loss of less than 4%
  • powder press density of 2.5 g/cm3 at 5T
