General description

Rethink your bioinks with TissueFab®About the material: These TissueFab® tyramine functionalized poly(amino acid) is a xeno-free (animal origin free), biodegradable and biocompatible polymer that been developed and tested for hydrogel synthesis for tissue engineering and other biomedical applications.

Printing and crosslinking parameters:

  • Compatible for cell encapsulation and hydrogel formation
  • Crosslinked via a ruthenium photoinitiatior system
The TissueFab® tyramine functionalized poly(amino acid) is characterized by its biocompatibility and biodegradability, making it well-suited for a broad spectrum of applications in the biomedical field. This poly(amino acid) is synthesized through the ring opening of polysuccinimide using a nucleophilic reagent. The presence of amide linkages in these polymers results in peptide-like structures that are prone to cleavage and degradation in the body, leading to the formation of amino acids or small peptides. The tyramine functional group within the polymer provides sites for further chemical modification or conjugation with bioactive molecules, such as drugs, peptides, and targeting ligands. For example, the free amine group on tyramine can undergo acylation with acid chlorides or anhydrides to form amide derivatives. Additionally, tyramine can participate in enzymatic or chemical crosslinking reactions to form covalent bonds between tyramine molecules or with other biomolecules. Furthermore, this tyramine functionalized poly(amino acid) can be photo-oxidized by the Ruthenium photoinitiator kit (Cat#916881) into reactive intermediates, which can then crosslink with proteins or adjacent tyramine to form a cell compatible hydrogel.
