应用
牛磺酸已被用作受精培养基（Fertrodede白蛋白乳酸丙酮酸盐（TALP））的补充剂，该培养基可用于 体外 受精和胚胎发育评估。它也可用作H2S的清除剂。
生化/生理作用
亚牛磺酸，一种胱胺类似物，是牛磺酸合成的前体。它可以作为抗氧化剂和单线态氧清除剂，从而保护细胞免受氧化损伤。据报道，亚牛磺酸在维持和刺激精子活动以及体外受精和胚胎发育中起重要作用。
键合羟自由基的抗氧化剂。内源抑制性神经调质，受番木鳖碱和印防己毒阻碍。抑制 GABA 和 β-丙氨酸的 Na2+ 依赖性运输。是半胱氨酸的降解产物，也是牛磺酸的前体。
