三羟基胆甾烷酸（THCA）是胆固醇的氧化代谢产物，是胆汁酸的前体。与内质网和过氧化物酶体相关的超长链酰基辅酶A合成酶（VLCS）可激活C27胆汁酸中间体THCA。

应用

三羟基胆甾烷酸已被用作一种甾醇，以测试其与人类mincle蛋白的反应性。

生化/生理作用

观察到三羟基胆甾烷酸（THCA）和二羟基胆甾烷酸（DHCA）在齐薇格综合征和胆汁淤积性肝病中均有积累。线粒体27羟化酶有利于合成DHCA和THCA的(25R)-异构体。
