General description
7α,24(R/S)-dihydroxycholestenone-d7 is a deuterated derivative of the oxysterol 7α,24(R/S)-dihydroxycholestenone. 7α,24-dihydroxy-3-oxocholest-4-en-26-oic acid is synthesized from 3β,7α,24 S-trihydroxycholest-5-en-(25 R)26-oic acid ((25 R)CA5-3β,7α,24 S-triol) in the presence of enzyme 3β-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase type 7 (HSD3B7). 7α,24(S)-dihydroxycholestenone is also derived by the 7α-hydroxylation of 24S hydroxycholesterol (24S-HC) in the presence of enzyme oxysterol 7-α-hydroxylase 2 (CYP39A1).
