General description
1,2-distearoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphoethanolamine-N-[poly(ethylene glycol)2000-N′-carboxyfluorescein] (18:0 PEG2000 PE CF) lipid comprises hydrophilic polyethylene glycol (PEG) polymer in its head groups.
Application
18:0 PEG2000 PE CF may be used:
- in in vitro release assays from nanoemulsion (NE)
- for the labeling PEGylated LPD (liposome-polycation-DNA) for size exclusion chromatography studies
- as a fluorescent probe to monitor shape transformation in giant vesicles
Biochem/physiol Actions
1,2-distearoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphoethanolamine-N-[poly(ethylene glycol)2000-N′-carboxyfluorescein] (18:0 PEG2000 PE CF) conjugate is useful in designing biointerfaces. Lipid-anchored poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) polymers aid in liposomal drug delivery. PEG-PE liposomes aid in the controlled release of drugs and are promising drug carriers. 18:0 PEG2000 PE CF, also called the DSPE−PEG2000, is a stable polymeric micelle, which favors hydrophobic drug circulation by preventing uptake by mononuclear phagocyte system. DSPE−PEG2000 is a potential drug carrier for cancer therapy.
