Application
16:0-18:2 PS or 1-palmitoyl-2-linoleoyl-sn-glycero-3-phospho-L-serine (sodium salt) might be used in the preparation of giant unilamellar liposomes (GULs).
Biochem/physiol Actions
Phosphatidylserine (PS) supports nerve cell membranes and myelin. It affects the catabolism and anabolism of neurotransmitters acetylcholine (ACh), norepinephrine, serotonin and dopamine.
General description
Phosphatidylserine (PS) is an acidic phospholipid, abundantly found in the protein myelin. It is localized to the membranes and present in plasma. PS constitutes 2% to 20% of the total phospholipid mass.

Low gadolinium concentrations induce rapid gigaseal formation and cell adhesion to glass and plastic (polystyrene) substrates in the slime mutant of Neurospora crassa. Cellular adhesion is independent of an integrin-mediated mechanism, because pretreatment with the oligopeptide ARG-GLY-ASP-SER (RGDS) did not

Phosphatidylserine (PS) is the most abundant negatively charged phospholipid in eukaryotic membranes. PS directs the binding of proteins that bear C2 or gamma-carboxyglutamic domains and contributes to the electrostatic association of polycationic ligands with cellular membranes. Rather than being evenly
