Application

12:0 PC (DLPC/1,2-dilauroyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine) may be used as a standard to quantify phosphatidylcholine. It has also been used as a lipid standard in the optimization of the liquid chromatography−mass spectrometry (LC-MS) method conditions.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Phosphatidylcholine (PC) has the ability to block the penetrance of bacteria by acting as a surfactant.

General description

The list of Phosphatidylcholine products offered by Avanti is designed to provide compounds having a variety of physical properties. Products available include short chain (C3-C8 are water soluble and hygroscopic), saturated, multi-unsaturated and mixed acid PC′s. All of the products are purified by HPLC, and special precautions are taken to protect the products for oxidization and hydrolysis.
The mucosal layer of the colon has phosphatidylcholine (PC). PCs carry fatty acids in the sn-1 and sn-2 positions, that are covalently attached to a glycerol through ester bonds.
