General description
16:0 aldehyde-d9 or hexadecanal-d9 is a deuterated C16 chain length fatty aldehyde. Hexadecanal may be derived from a plasmalogen. Hexadecanal is reduced to hexadecanol by the reaction catalyzed by alcohol dehydrogenase, propanol-preferring (Adhp). Hexadecanol has wide applications in chemical & fuel industries.
Application
16:0 aldehyde-d9 has been used as a fatty aldehyde internal standard for derivatization and mass spectrometric identification of α-hydroxy fatty aldehydes.
