General description
Isoglobotriaosylceramide (iGB3) is a glycosphingolipid. It is produced in the lysosomal compartment by antigen presenting cells in mammals.
Biochem/physiol Actions
Isoglobotriaosylceramide (iGB3) acts as an antigen and is involved in activating natural killer T (NKT) cells. It is also implicated as a carbohydrate ligand for several receptors.
