General description
Interleukin-4 (IL-4) is a cytokine primarily produced by activated T cells, particularly Th2 cells, and plays a crucial role in the immune response. It is essential for the differentiation of B cells, promoting the production of antibodies, and is involved in the regulation of various immune functions, including the enhancement of IgE production, which is significant in allergic responses. Additionally, IL-4 is implicated in the pathogenesis of several diseases, including asthma and other allergic conditions.
