General description
CARM1(与共激活因子相关的精氨酸甲基转移酶1)是一种精氨酸N-甲基转移酶,可催化甲基从S-腺苷-L-蛋氨酸转移至蛋白质中的精氨酸残基。 CARM1目标包括Arg17处的组蛋白H3和Arg2142处的p300甲基化。基因激活后,CARM1与来自p300和p160家族的组蛋白乙酰转移酶一起被募集到启动子。在单核细胞炎症刺激过程中,CARM1与p300一起充当NF-kB的共激活因子。它负责在发育中的胚泡中将细胞移向内部细胞团。CARM1在雄激素受体中也起着重要作用,并可能在前列腺癌进展中起作用。
