An aspartyl protease inhibitor that acts as an effective inhibitor of HIV-1 proteinase (K_i = 20 nM at pH 4.7) and HIV-2 proteinase (K_i = 5 nM at pH 4.7). Acts as a substrate-analog inhibitor.
