The MQuant^® Cyanide test (formally MColortest™) measuresfree cyanide ions e.g. in
* Groundwater and surface water
* Drinking water and mineral water
* Waters from aquaculture
* Industrial water
* Wastewater and percolating water
* Electroplating wastewater

This test is not suited for seawater.

Method
Cyanide ions react with a chlorinating agent to formcyanogen chloride, which in turn reacts with 1,3-dimethylbarbituric acid in thepresence of pyridine to form a violet dye (König reaction). The cyanideconcentration is measured semiquantitatively by visual comparison of the colorof the measurement solution with the color fields of a color card.
The unique brilliance of the print and their fine colorgraduation allow precise analyses, even at the lower end of the concentrationrange.
Due to the long test tubes a sensitive measurement range canbe covered.
Using the refill pack 1.18457 containing all the reagents,the original test kit can be used for a very long time, making it aparticularly economical and ecological system.
