Tryptic Soy Agar (TSA, Soybean Casein Digest Agar) is a complex medium for cultivation and isolation of a wide range of bacteria, yeasts and molds. The media finds its application in environmental monitoring by determining the total microbial aerobic and anaerobic count in Isolators and Clean Rooms
General description
Tryptic Soy Agar with LTHThio - ICR plus Settle plate is designed for the determination of the total microbial aerobic and anaerobic count in Clean rooms and Isolators. Settle plates are used for active and passive air monitoring as well for personnel monitoring. Tryptic soy agar is a complex medium for cultivation and isolation of a wide range of bacteria, yeasts and molds. The formulation of the Soybean Casein-Digest medium contains a combination of casein and soy peptones supplying organic nitrogen, particularly amino acids and longer-chained peptides. The medium is supplemented with Lecithin, Polysorbate 80 (Tween®), Histidine, Sodium thiosulphate and pyruvate to inactivate potential residues of disinfectants. In addition, the plate model (plus or “+”) is supplied with a lockable lid for safe transport of the samples without the risk of losing the lid. For anaerobic incubation the lid needs to be turned into the vent position.
