Catalyzes the isomerization of peroxynitrite (ONOO^–) to nitrate (NO₃^–) under physiological conditions and at realistic dose-derived concentrations (K_cat = 2.2 x 10⁶ M^-1s^-1). Effectively prevents the oxidation of lipid components by peroxynitrite. Also catalytically decomposes superoxide radicals (O₂^·). Irradiation of the aqueous solution at 335 nm releases hydroxyl (OH·) radicals. FeTMPyP can also serve as a potential for drug detoxification of reactive oxygen species (ROS).
